Nila Irene Miller was born June 16, 1925 in Lincoln County, SD to parents Nels and Myrtle (McConniel) Homandberg. She died December 19, 2012 at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD at 87 years of age. Nila attended Riverside and Oakland rural schools. She married Howard Miller on April 1, 1945. To this union four children were born, Linda, Dale, Marlys and Cindy. The couple resided on a farm in rural Hudson, SD. In 1983, Nila moved to Beresford where she has lived until the present time. Nila was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fairview, SD and later became a member of Hudson Lutheran Church. She had a deep faith in God that she shared with people in many ways. She enjoyed singing and entertaining at area nursing homes and was great at cheering up the residents. She made and sent homemade cards to hundreds of people over the years, celebrating occasions of all kinds. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother John Homandberg and 2 sisters, Borghild Lund and Helen Snedeker. She is survived by 4 children, Dale Miller of Brandon, SD, Linda (Bud) Walling, Sioux Falls, Marlys (Bob) Brown, Hudson, SD and Cindy Scott, Sioux Falls; 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; a brother Elmer (Wava) Homandberg, Alcester; a sister Norma Vandemore, Hudson, SD; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Hudson Lutheran Church, with burial to follow at Eden Cemetery, rural Hudson. Visitation will be Friday from 5PM to 7PM with a prayer service at 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
