Obituary

Nancy Ann Bylander, 63, died Feb. 8, in Sugar Land, Texas, after a short battle with cancer.

Nancy was born Feb. 5, 1954, in Sioux Falls and grew up on the family farm south of Beresford. She attended Newdale Grade School and Beresford High School. She went on to get her RN degree from St. Luke's in Sioux City.

She spent most of her working life in the Houston, Texas, area working as a nurse and in the insurance industry. At the time of her death, she was retired and living in Sugar Land. She was married twice.

She was adventurous – one of the first girls to participate in a traditionally boys 4-H Club and work with livestock. She was a horsewoman, a skilled seamstress, a gardener and a self-taught carpenter. She traveled in Mexico and Europe and spent a year living in Australia.

She is survived by her mother, L'Nora Bylander, Centerville, SD; her sisters, Karin Woltjer, Beresford, SD; and Ruth Bylander, Vermillion, SD; her brother, D. Martin (Susan) Bylander, Pflugerville, Texas; and Thomas (Cindy) Bylander, San Antonio, Texas; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Bylander.

A prayer service will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, at 10am at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford, followed by a light brunch. A short graveside service is planned at noon at the Dalesburg Lutheran Cemetery, rural Vermillion. Donations may be made to the Dalesburg Lutheran Cemetery.

Thank you to the families and friends who have offered their thoughts and prayers.
