Mildred (Millie) Killian Jervik, 90 years old, died of natural causes on November 09, 2010. Millie was a very loving and caring mother with many friends. She was born the first of six children to William (Bill) Arnold Killian and Mabel Betty Killian in Goshen, Idaho on July 26, 1920.
Millie was raised on a farm and attended elementary school in Shelly, Idaho. She started working full time as a cook and housekeeper at the age of 16 on a ranch near Shelly, Idaho in 1937. The ranch is where Millie met a farm hand named Leonard Bjarne Jervik. Leonard was working his way from South Dakota to Seattle, Washington to start a life at sea as a fisherman but Millie proved to be the life long match that he would not leave. Leonard and Millie married on November 23, 1938.
Leonard and Millie had 3 children while living and working in Shelly - Marolyn (born June 4, 1939), Larry (born April 18, 1941) and Leland (born April 18, 1942). In 1944 they moved to Gooding, Idaho where they farmed and ranched in the area until 1961. While in Gooding they had two more sons, Lynn (born Sept 25, 1945) and Lamar (born Feb 7, 1953).
In 1962 Leonard and Millie embarked on a different way of life as owner operators of businesses that included a caf/restaurant, truck & bus stop, motel, service station and trailer court in Gooding and Bliss, Idaho.
In 1972 Leonard and Millie moved to Southern California where they managed apartment complexes and later Millie worked at Knotts Berry Farm as manager of the famous Basket Shop. In 1983 Leonard and Millie retired and moved to Modesto, California to be near daughter Marolyn and son-in-law Carroll. Restless retirement led them to continue part-time work as Office Managers for Darryls Mini Storage in Modesto for nearly 12 years.
After Leonards death in 1995, Millie moved back to Southern California (Leisure World Seal Beach) to be close to her children and grandchildren where she remained until her death.
Millie was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, son's Larry and Leland and grandson Dusty. She is survived by 3 children, Marolyn (Salome, Arizona), Lynn (Redondo Beach, CA) and Lamar (Huntington Beach, CA); 2 sisters, Billie Louise Ellsworth (Basalt, Idaho) and Nadine Watson (Blackfoot, Idaho), 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
