Mike Foley, 57, passed away at home on June 20, 2020, surround by family members. He was born May 31, 1963, in Parkston, SD, to Dennis and Gloria Foley.  He graduated from Centerville School District, Centerville, SD, in 1981. While growing up, he enjoyed farm work and working alongside his dad. After graduation, Mike worked in Wall and Keystone, SD, living at the base of Mt. Rushmore before returning to school at Lake Area Vocational Technical Institute in Watertown, SD and graduating with a two-year diploma in Marketing, Management and Sales in 1990.

Mike married Tami Van Der Boom on August 11, 1990. The couple moved to Grimes, IA, in September 1990 and Mike worked for Schwan's Sales Enterprises. The couple moved to Dallas Center in 1998. Mike had other career experiences over the years and for the last 18 years worked as the Property Manager at First Baptist Church of Greater Des Moines. As a replacement to working on the farm, Mike also had a lawn care business and took pride in his lawn and the other lawns he took care of.

Mike was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at the age of seven. He always believed he would beat diabetes and did when he received a pancreas transplant in January 2017. He enjoyed a new way of life being diabetes free. Unfortunately, his life was unexpectedly cut short when he was diagnosed with an aggressive and advanced form of cancer.

Mike is survived by his wife, Tami and their daughter, Emma; mother and step father, Gloria and Nelson Horstman of Indiantown, FL; step mother, Nadine Foley of Scotland, SD; sister, Janice (Jeff) Nelson of Centerville, SD; brother, Tim (Terri) Foley of Las Vegas, NV; step-siblings Magean (Peter) Fedor of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Randy (Julie) Horstman, Hull, IA; Greg (Dawn) Popma of Yankton, SD, Lynn (Becky) Popma of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Dawn (Ed) Kruse of Scotland, SD; and several nieces and nephews. Mike is preceded in death by his father, Dennis Foley, grandparents, Fred and Loreda (Sis) Foley and George and Irene Baltzer, and uncles Gary Foley and Melvin Haase; aunt, Beverly Boone.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Centerville United Church of Christ with a visitation beginning one-hour prior at 1:00 PM. A memorial has been established for his daughter's college fund.
