Michael Angelo Salberg was born August 19, 1948 in Vermillion, SD to Harlan and Wilma Mae (Hensley) Salberg. He died May 15, 2014 at his home in Beresford, SD at the age of 65 years. Michael was raised and educated in Beresford. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge he attended college in Hawarden, IA. He worked with his father at Salberg Excavating, in the excavating and trenching business. He retired recently and enjoyed having breakfast with friends and spending time with his brother, Harley. In earlier years, Michael liked bowling and throwing darts. Recently he spent free time watching TV and movies and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his three daughters, Angie (Mark) Fiechtner of Sioux Falls, Michelle Salberg of Akron, IA and Theresa (Tony) Nemesio of Akron, IA; two sons, Travis Salberg of Beresford and Jason W. Salberg of Fairschild AFB in Spokane, WA. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren, Jersey, Clay, Brody, Easton, A.J., Tori and Alyssa; and one brother, Harley Wayne Salberg of Beresford. His parents and one sister, Judy Hauser preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held 2PM Monday, May 19th at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. Visitation will be 4-8PM Sunday at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 6-8PM and a prayer service at 7PM.
