Marydell Ronning passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at the Alcester Care & Rehab Center in Alcester, South Dakota at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 24 days.

Marydell was born in Alcester on January 13, 1936 to Glenn and Doris (Bjork) Larson. She attended and graduated from Alcester High School. On March 1, 1958, during an ice storm, Marydell married the love of her life, Harold Ronning at the Alcester Baptist Church. Together, they had three sons, Randy, Ryan and Regan.

Marydell was a very proud mom, grandma and great-grandma. You could always find her at her family's many sporting events and other activities throughout the years. She enjoyed traveling with Harold throughout the years to various places, some of their favorites would be the Black Hills, Alaska and Branson. Marydell loved listening to music, especially Danny O'Donnell! She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends, going out for coffee and feeding the birds. In her younger years, Marydell worked at the bank in Hawarden and then the drug store, Your Daily Dose, in Alcester.

Marydell is survived by her sons, Randy (Diane), Alcester, SD, Ryan (Lisa) Alcester, SD and Regan (Tami), Sioux Center, IA; grandchildren, Kristi (Brent) Sporrer, Sioux Falls, SD, Kim (Brian) Sweat, Thonotosassa, FL, Justin (Katrina) Ronning, Gibbon, NE, Jessica (Jacob) Korzeniewski, Alcester, SD , Zach Ronning (fiancé Courtnee Edelman), Elk Point, SD and Emily Ronning, Sioux Falls, SD; eleven great-grandchildren, Hailey, Carson, Eli, Riley, Ava, Paige, Jax, Gannon, Renn, Ree and Lainie; her brother, Donowan Larson, Alcester, SD; brothers-in-law, Richard Stensaas, Sioux Falls, SD, Melvin (Doreen) Ronning, Alcester, SD; sisters-in-law, Marlene (Mike) Bryar, Marietta, GA and Mary Jo (Brad) Kruse, Manson, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold; sisters-in-law, Marlys Larson and Marlys Stensaas; niece, Tristen Larson Merriman; and great-nephew, Nolan Ramthun.

Funeral services will be 10AM Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Roseni Lutheran Church, rural Beresford, SD. Visitation will be 5-7PM Wednesday, Jan. 10th at Wass Funeral Chapel in Alcester with a prayer service at 7PM.
