Mary Kae Voegeli, 79, went to be with Jesus on Monday, July 27, 2020 in Beresford, SD. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 29 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 30 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford, SD.
Mary Strand was born March 29, 1941 to Orville and Grace (Dahlin) Strand in Clay County, SD. She attended and graduated from Wakonda High School. After graduation, she went to Stewarts School of Hairstyling. She owned and operated a beauty salon in Beresford until the mid-60's when she sold it to take her kids on the road with Jerry. She married Jerold Voegeli on January 22, 1961. They were blessed with their 3 children, Cameron, Teresa and Travis.
Mary's kids, grandkids and great-grandkids were the love of her life. She enjoyed following the Minnesota Twins and crafts such as sewing, crocheting and knitting. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling to Arizona to spend time with her brother Glenn, and his wife, Carol and with Gloria Gunnare. She was even blessed to take a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Jamaica with her Merriman cousins.
Mary is survived by her children, Cameron (Tammy) Voegeli, Beresford, SD, Teresa (Robert) Knutson, Beresford, SD and Travis (Nicole) Voegeli, Circle Pine, MN; 9 grandchildren, Joseph (Melissa) Knutson, Blaine Knutson, Tanner (Amanda Eli) Knutson, Lance (Kaitlyn Latham) Knutson, Arien Voegeli, Jacob Campbell, Gavin Bragelman, Mike O'Brien and Valarie O'Brien; great-grandchildren, Easton, Tate, Gracelynn and Trinity; sisters, Netta (Ron) Hustrulid and LuAnn (Ron) Swanson; brother, Glenn (Carol) Strand; and her sisters-in-law, Kay Strand and Shirley Strand, Myrna (Dennis) Nelson, Linda (David) Nelson and Lois Moss; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents; 3 brothers, Jerry Strand, Robert Strand and Keith Strand; and her nephew, Jason Strand.
