Mary Lou Jensen was born February 19, 1927 in Dell Rapids, SD to parents G.A Swede and Marie (Anderson) Thoreson. She died September 21, 2006 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 2 days. Mary Lou attended school in Dell Rapids, Alcester and Beresford. She married Lyle Jensen on May 9, 1947. The couple resided in Beresford. Mary Lou was a Domestic Engineer as she raised three children and took care of the many household duties. She moved into Bethesda Nursing Home on April 23, 2001 and resided there until the present time. Mary Lou was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and then Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and many Bridge clubs. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, knitting, her pet dogs, playing cards, cooking, bird watching and following all athletic events. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Kay Heikes. Her survivors include her husband Lyle of Beresford; three children: L. Paul Jensen and wife Sandra of Dell Rapids, daughter Mary Karen Engebretson and husband Dan of Watertown and Mark Jensen and wife Jonda of Beresford; 7 grandchildren: Michelle Jensen, Brian Jensen, Tom (Angie) Engebretson, Kate (Lynn) Jurrens, Zachary Jensen, Amanda Jensen and Rachael Jensen; and 3 great grandchildren: Isaac and Connor Engebretson and Carter Jurrens. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Beresford Area Community Foundation. A memorial service will be held at 11AM, Monday, September 25 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. The family will be present for visitation on Sunday from 6PM to 8PM at Emmanuel Lutheran Church
