IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marjorie
Knutson
September 29, 1923 – December 15, 2023
Marjorie P. Knutson was born September 29, 1923 to Arthur and Pauline (Bleich) Engman in Vermillion, South Dakota. She passed away December 15, 2023 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Viborg, SD at the age of 100 years, two months and 16 days.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Marjorie attended schools in the Dalesburg area and graduated from Vermillion High School. She married Clare Knutson on March 29, 1944 at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Vermillion. They moved near Centerville and made their home on a farm in the Frog Creek community.
Marjorie was always ready to lend a helping hand to her family, friends and on the farm. She liked flowers, gardening, cooking and baking. She was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Centerville where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the WMF. Marjorie always had coffee and lunch ready when the trucks got home or for anyone who stopped.
She adored her great-granddaughters and enjoyed going to their activities. They spent a lot of time at her house.
Clare passed away in September 2009. She continued to live on the farm until she became a resident at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in June of 2021. She and her family were grateful for the wonderful care she received there.
Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Rodney (Beverly) Knutson; grandson, Jason (Alicia) Knutson; great-granddaughters, Jaclynn (Luke) Engen, Alison Knutson, Shania (Pierre) Lear and Kasandra Knutson and her special friend, Brady Tilly; and a great-great-granddaughter, Ellie Engen. She is also survived by two sisters, Arthadell Engman and Lois Christensen; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clare and three sisters, Phyllis, Betty and Alice. Blessed be her memory.
