Obituary

Marjorie LaVonne Madsen was born on December 18th, 1924 in Wakonda, SD to Espen and Agnes Madsen and made her journey to Heaven on June 25th, 2014 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD at the age of 89 years, 6 months, and 7 days. Marge attended Lodi Country School near Wakonda and later graduated from Wakonda High School. After graduation, she moved to Sioux City, IA and worked in payroll at Wincharger Corporation for war production. She later worked in Beresford as a secretary at Production Credit Association, Bethesda Children's Home, and was also employed at Dorothy's Apparel and Fabrics in Beresford, SD. Marge married Sophus Jensen on February 24th, 1946 in Wakonda, SD. They made their home in rural Beresford where she was actively involved in farming with her husband. Sophus and Marge were blessed with two sons, Roger Sophus and Terry Donald. The couple farmed near Beresford, until they retired and moved to town in the fall of 1989. They traveled south in the winter, eventually making their winter home in Mesa, AZ, where they enjoyed making new friends and entertaining. Marge was a prior member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, and a current member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford, SD. She was an active member of Emmanuel WELCA and Prairie Pals Extension Club. She was a dedicated farm wife and known to miraculously produce a meal complete with dessert out of thin air for anyone that came to visit. She also loved to sew for herself, daughter in law, and make dresses for her granddaughters. Her family was her greatest pride and joy, especially her three grandchildren, their spouses and six great-grandchildren. Grateful for having shared her life is her son, Terry and daughter in-law, Judy Jensen, of Beresford; three grandchildren, Nathan and Kristin Jensen of Beresford, Rebecca and Jason Pauly of Norwood, MN, and Candace and Greg Zweifel of Beresford; six great grandchildren, Dane Sophus, Judd Thomas, and Seth Henry Pauly, Grant Terry and Addison Dru Jensen, and Garrison Gregory Zweifel and another great grandchild expected in August. Others who shared in her life include her sister Delores Carlson of Sioux Falls and sister-in-law, Lois Jensen of Cambridge, MN, as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded into death by her husband, Sophus (2013), her parents and her son, Roger (1966). Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation with Family present from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with prayer service at 7:30 on Sunday, June 29th, 2013.
