Marjorie Elizabeth (Young) Hansen passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord and Savior at the age of 87 on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, South Dakota. She was born on March 1, 1935 in Union County, SD to parents Harold and Margaret (Bachman) Young. Marge was one of seven siblings raised on a farm east of Beresford. Marge attended Gothland School and continued her education until graduation at Beresford High School.

Marge married Arden Hansen in 1953 and to this union were born four children: Roxy, John, Todd & Julie. The family moved from town to a farm south of Beresford in 1961. Marge enjoyed helping on the farm which included raising chickens to sell for $1.25 each to pay for household items.

Marge and her children moved back to town in 1971 where she served as both mother and father to her children. Although being a single mother was difficult at times, Marge always found a way to provide for her family. Marge's work ethic was second to none, she held several jobs including working at the VFW Legion, Beresford Bakery, Conklin's Café, Berts Lounge, the Beresford School lunch program, and custodian of the Beresford Ambulance. In addition, Marge was a faithful servant to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, not only as a member but also as the custodian for over 30 years.

In her free time, she enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Marge was also a fan of the Atlanta Braves and rarely missed watching a game. Marge's loved ones-both within her family and without-will always cherish her kindness and the compassion she had for all those around her.

Marge is survived by her 4 children: Roxy Johnson, John (Junelle) Hansen, Todd (Jennifer) Hansen and Julie (Ted) Lyle; 6 grandchildren: Austin (Tracia) Hansen, Stefanie Johnson, Kayla (Eric) Feucht, Abby (Joe) Sorensen, Hayley (Bradley) Godfrey and Jillian Hansen; 6 great-grandchildren: Breckyn & Brynley Hansen, Macie & Avery Feucht, Kreighton Sorensen, Jade Godfrey & soon to be baby Godfrey; her brothers Robert (Bob) Young & George (Lavonne) Young and sister(s) in law Dione Young & Corrine Young.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Donald (Don) Young & Larry Young, her sisters Dorothy Johnson & Joyce Larson, her sister-in-law Diane Young and her brother(s) in law Myron Larson & Merrill Johnson.
