Obituary
Marjorie E. Mickey Halsted, 90, died Dec. 6, 2009 at the Centerville Good Samaritan Center. Mass of Christian burial will be Wed., Dec. 9, 2009 at 10AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Centerville. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8PM at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6-8PM.
Mickey, a daughter of Joe and Genevieve (Hallisey) Smith, was born Dec. 13, 1918 in Centerville, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Centerville. Mickey married Elwyn A. Duck Halsted August 29, 1939 at South Sioux City, Nebraska. Together they owned Ducks Recreation and Ducks IGA. She will be remembered for her famous taverns.
She was a member of the Catholic Altar Society, Centerville Al-Anon and Centerville Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her children, Jeanne (Roger) Peterson and Jim (Dianna) Halsted; four grandchildren, Teresa Berg, Mark (Holly) Peterson, Kelly Halsted, and Patrick (Shannon) Halsted; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband, twin sister, Margaret, and brother, Pat, preceded her in death.
