Marilynn Elaine Hustrulid was born September 20, 1927 in Union County, SD to parents Martin and Anna (Braastad) Miller. She died August 14, 2012 at Dougherty Hospice in Sioux Falls at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 24 days. Marilynn was raised on a farm near the Union Grove State Park. She attended Hillswood School and graduated from Beresford High School in 1945. Marilynn was married to Palmer Hustrulid December 7, 1947. They raised their family on a farm three miles southeast of Beresford. Marilynn worked at Jensen grocery store and as a dental assistant for Dr. Ivarsen. She and Palmer retired into Beresford in the late 80s and liked going to Texas during the winter months. Marilynn enjoyed dancing and playing bridge. She loved to bake pies and spend time with her family and friends. Marilynn was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and liked following the Twins and Cubs baseball teams. She is survived by her husband, Palmer Hustrulid of Beresford; two sons, Ron (Netta) Hustrulid and Bob (Sharon) Hustrulid all of Beresford; three daughters, LuAnn Kleinsasser of Beresford, Lynelle Hustrulid of Lake Forest, CA and Sheryl (Gil) Ek of McKinney, TX; 10 grandchildren, Kevin Kleinsasser, Lori (Jim) Stancer, Jay (Karla) Shellhamer, Kyle Shellhammer, Carly Ek, Andrea (Alan) Fischer, Lisa (Dave) Fortier, Heather (Brian) Ivarsen, Alyssa Hustrulid and Preston Hustrulid; five great-grandchildren, Brendan and Dylan Stancer, Owen Fischer, Kaylee Ivarsen and Matilda Shellhammer; one sister, LaDell Tornberg and one brother-in-law, Duane Johnson both of Beresford. Her parents and one sister, Loreen Johnson, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 10AM Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Bersford. Visitation will be 4-8PM Friday at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 6-8PM.
