Marilyn Lucille Messler, 93, of Beresford, passed away January 22, 2025, at Bethesda Home in Beresford. Marilyn was born on May 30th, 1931, on the farm in Centerville SD to Ellis and Susan White. She grew up in Hub City and graduated from Vermillion High School in 1949. She married the love of her life, Roger, on December 27th, 1950, they then moved to Kansas City where she worked as a telephone operator while Roger went to plumbing school. Returning to Beresford where Roger joined his brothers in business. Marilyn stayed busy raising her family and doing the bookwork for Roger. She also worked at a couple other stores in Beresford. When Roger retired in 1993, they hit the road and traveled. They moved to Yankton in 2001. She loved being on or near the water. She loved fishing and being on the boat. She moved back to Beresford after Roger passed in 2016. Marilyn enjoyed playing games and socializing while she was at Bethesda
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and VFW Women's Auxiliary. She cherished the time when she had visitors, liked to joke around, and was spunky up until the end. She is survived by her five children: Gwen Messler Harry of West Point Va., Clare (Betty Jean) of Sioux Falls SD, Jan (Dale, her favorite son in law) Liston of Beresford SD, Curt (Sheri) Messler of Sioux Falls SD, Carol Messler of West Point Va.
Grand Children: Wendy Liston, Chris (Crickett) Liston, Erick (Anne) Messler, Gabe (Ellie) Messler, Megan (Josh) Anthofer, Becky (Andy) Nelson, Nick (Justine) Messler, Katie Messler and Joey Messler.
Great-Grandchildren: Tyler, Nolan, Kali, Evan, Zakery, Trent, Emilee, Sarah, Graham, Guy, Gus, River, Rosie, Jude, Lucy,
Great-Great-Grandchildren: Miles and Devyn.
Marilyn is preceded in death: Her parents, sister Roberta, brother Ellis jr, Son-in-law Scott Harry, Great-Granddaughter Hazel Liston and Great-Grandson Bennett Liston.
