Obituary

Marian Socorro (Perez) Ericson, 77, of Alcester, SD passed away September 17, 2019, at her home in Alcester, SD surrounded by her family. A visitation with the family present will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 6:00-8:00pm at the UCC Church in Alcester. Her family will be hosting a celebration of life at her home in Alcester on Saturday, September 21, 2019 starting at 4:00pm.

Marian Perez was born May 9, 1942 in Long Beach, CA to parents Tony and Socorro (Valencia) Perez. Marian was the oldest of three children; sister Kathy and brother Steve. She graduated from Millikan High School in Long Beach, CA in 1960. While attending high school she met the love of her life Sydney Ericson.

After high school Marian worked various secretarial jobs before going to work for the ABC school district in Cerritos, CA. In 1965 she married her high school sweetheart Sydney and began to start a family. She worked for the school district for 8 years before becoming a stay at home mother to care for her three children.

Marian and Sydney owned and operated their own law firm for 22 years. In 2008, after Sydney retired from practicing law, they moved to Sydney's family farm just outside of Alcester, SD.

During her later years Marian truly loved spending time with her family and friends. Whether it be over a cup of coffee or a large family gathering at the farm, everyone who entered her home always left with a heart full of love and stomach full of her amazing homemade cooking.

Marian loved everyone who gathered at her home. She was especially proud of her three children and three grandchildren. She loved her large garden at the farm that she spent hours on and of course she loved her farm animals including her donkeys, goats and dogs.

One of her greatest memories was the family trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota to celebrate Christmas shortly after Sydney passed away.

Marian leaves behind a legacy full of love in everyone that met her.

She is survived by her three children, Michael, Axel (Amanda), and Aurem (Doug); three grandchildren, Cylia, Alexandra (Justin) and Austin; one great-granddaughter, Aubrey; her sister, Kathy and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sydney; parents, Tony and Socorro; and her brother, Steve.
