Marguerite R. Johnson was born January 7, 1923 in Ottumwa, IA to parents Henry and Margaret (McDonald) Prather. She died November 16, 2013 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 9 days. Marguerite grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School. She married Edwin Johnson, Sr. on January 2, 1943. The couple lived in Sioux Falls where she was a homemaker and mother. Edwin, Sr. died in 1996. In 2005, Marguerite moved to Beresford where she has resided until the present time. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a former member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Marguerite taught Sunday School, Bible School and was a Girl Scout Leader. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son Edwin Johnson, Jr. Her survivors include her daughter Faith Kinkner and husband Larry of Beresford; daughter-in-law Barbara Johnson of Tulsa, OK; 4 grandchildren, Dr. T.K. Logan, Lexington, KY, and Randall Kinkner, Kristine Johnson and Kimberly Johnson all of Tulsa, OK; 6 great grandchildren, Austin, Alex, Miranda, Morgan, Megan and Max; one sister and one brother. A memorial service will be held 4:00 PM, Tuesday, November 19 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford.
