Margaret Ostrem was born December 23, 1934 near Centerville, SD to parents Tom and Rachel (Axlund) Nelson. She passed away May 22, 2006 at the Centerville Good Samaritan Center at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 29 days. Margaret attended Midway Country School and graduated from Centerville High School in 1952. She married Boyd Ostrem on November 20, 1955. The couple lived on Boyds family farm until 1985. They then moved to Margarets family farm, which was recognized as a Century Farm in 2001. Margaret was baptized and confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran Church. After her marriage she became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Centerville where she was active in WMF, was a Sunday school teacher, and was involved in various other church activities. She enjoyed yard work, cooking for her family, traveling, and attending her childrens and grandchildrens activities. She was also involved in Christian Womens Club and Bible studies. She was preceded in death by her parents. Among those who survive and gratefully shared her life are her husband Boyd Ostrem of Centerville; two sons: Tim Ostrem and wife Kari of Centerville and David Ostrem and wife Kelly of Centerville; daughter Karen Carlson and husband Stuart of Beresford; seven grandchildren: Sarah Marohl and husband Jon, Amy Ostrem and fianc Mark Kaemingk, Daniel Ostrem, Greg Ostrem, Abby Ostrem, Cody Carlson and Austin Carlson; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Margaret Ostrem will be held 10:30PM, Thursday, May 25 at Immanuel Free Lutheran, rural Centerville with burial at Holland Cemetery, rural Centerville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6PM to 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM at the church.
