Margaret C. Lowry of Beresford, SD, formerly of White Sulfur Springs, MT, passed away on January 3, 2013 at Bethesda of Beresford where she resided for the past 16 months. Margaret celebrated her 92nd birthday in November. Margaret Golda Kjemperud was born November 17, 1920 in International Falls, MN to Chris and Caroline (Forsberg) Kjemperud. She grew up on a farm near Littlefork, MN with her seven siblings. Margaret attended school in Littlefork and graduated in 1938. On June 13, 1942 Margaret married Albert Carlson; they lived in Littlefork and Hibbing, MN and Whitefish and Sulfur Springs, MT. She worked as a clerk at Mathis Market in White Sulfur Springs for 30 years before retiring in 1988. Albert died in 1987 and Margaret married Howard Lowry in 1988 and continued to live in White Sulfur Springs until Howard's death. She moved to Beresford to be closer to her daughter and family in 2000 but she always missed her home and her friends in Montana. Margaret is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Vern Holmes of Beresford, SD; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Janis Carlson of Hillsboro, OR; grandson Rod (Laura) Holmes of Chicago, IL; granddaughter LeAnn Holmes (Matt Wickless) of Lincoln, NE; grandson Matt (Elisha) Carlson of Portland, OR; and four great-grandchildren, Zach and Paul Stofferahn and Dane and Emayli Holmes. Margaret is also survived by two brothers, Carl Kjemperud of Littlefork, MN and Palmer (Dorothy) Kjemperud of Garibaldi, OR; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her husbands, two sisters and three brothers preceded her in death. Margaret pre-arranged cremation and specified no funeral. Her ashes will be buried next to her husband Albert in White Sulfur Springs, MT at a later date.
