Funeral services for Margaret Heiman will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 at Peace Lutheran Church in Alcester. Margaret Heiman was born March 29, 1927 in Hawarden, Iowa to Frank and Amelia (Wendel) Holtkamp in Union County at Hawarden, Iowa. She died January 23, 2008 in Hawarden, Iowa at the age of 80 years, nine months and 24 days. Margaret was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Germany at the age of six months. Her confirmation took place at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden, Iowa. She attended Williams Country School and graduated from Hawarden High School in 1945. On March 9, 1947 Margaret married Burdette Heiman at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden Iowa. Margaret worked for the Telephone Company in Hawarden, Iowa until February of 1948 when Margaret and Burdette moved to a farm near Alcester, South Dakota. Margaret was a dedicated member of Peace Lutheran Church LCMS in Alcester, South Dakota. She was also an ardent supporter of Sioux Falls Lutheran Schools. From 1948 until 2006 Margaret worked hand-in-hand with Burdette until she could no longer work on the farm. One of her greatest joys was cooking and baking for those who she cared about. Margaret shared the power of her faith with everyone she met either through the words that she spoke or more often through the wonderful deeds that she did which expressed her tremendous love for Christ. In 2006 Margaret moved to Bee-Hive Homes Inc. in Hawarden, Iowa. Her parents, Frank Holtkamp and Amelia (Wendel) Holtkamp, brother Wendal Holtkamp, sisters Louise Holtkamp and Dorothy (Holtkamp) Heiman, and twin daughters Marlys and Marlene Heiman preceded her in death. Margaret is survived by her husband, Burdette Heiman of Alcester, South Dakota; two brothers, Herman (Esther) Holtkamp of Hawarden, Iowa and Walter (Jo) Holtkamp of Alcester, South Dakota; two daughters, LaDonna (Greg) Way of Tripp, South Dakota and LaDel Heimen of Hawarden, Iowa; and two granddaughters, Noel and Charity Dossett of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The family requests memorials to Sioux Falls Lutheran School.
