Marcene Johnson, 52, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford of cancer. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Beresford. (Directions: I-29 Beresford Exit #47, West 5.5 Miles to University Road, South 9 Miles.) Marcene was born January 3, 1954 in Hawarden, Iowa to parents Conrad and Ardis (Osthus) Johnson. She grew up on a farm south of Beresford attending Cleveland rural school and graduated from Beresford High School in 1972. Marcene attended Nettleton College in Sioux Falls for one year and went to work for Mid-States, Inc. in Sioux Falls where she was employed for 32 years. She was a life long member of Dalesburg Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday school and served on the altar committee. Marcene was also a member of the Dalesburg Scandinavian Association. Her faith, family and friends were the most important to her. She enjoyed reading, visiting, family gatherings, reunions and researching family history. Marcene is survived by her parents; one sister, Darla (Eugene) Bult of Sioux Falls; two nieces, Andrea (Scott) Sukut and Megan Bult all of Sioux Falls and many relatives and friends.
