Mae Sundstrom was born September 2, 1926 in Omaha, Nebraska to Albert and Frieda (Phillips) Henderson. She died June 26, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 90 years, nine months and 24 days.

Mae and her sister were raised in Omaha, NE, Sioux City, IA and Beresford, SD. She attended and graduated from Beresford High School. On August 31, 1947 she married Gordon Sundstrom. Together they raised their three children on a farm southwest of Beresford. Mae worked at Reed Sales and Precious Little Ones Daycare in Beresford. Following Gordon's death in 1989, Mae continued to live on the farm.

She was a longtime member of the Beresford Arts Council where she loved to participate in the plays, especially the musicals. She was a member of the Beresford Zion United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir for 75 years and was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Eastern Star. Mae also enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Dean; son-in-law, Ron Reis; infant great-grandson, Joshua and her sister, Sally DeWall.

Mae is survived by her son, Dan Sundstrom of Beresford; daughters, Marty (Larry) Merriman of Beresford and Lisa Reis of Pocahontas, IA; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1PM Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Beresford Zion United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30PM Friday at the church.
