Obituary

Funeral services for Mae Anderson will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 2nd at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester. The family will be present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Mae A. Anderson was born May 14, 1922 in Hickman, NE to parents John and Ruth (Heupel) Boerrigter. She entered into her death June 29, 2007 at Morningside Care Center at the age of 85 years, one month and 15 days. Mae was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Hickman, NE. She was educated at Hickman Community School and attended NBA Business School in Lincoln, NE. Mae worked at various places in Lincoln before she married Ray W. Anderson on March 7, 1943 in Wyoming. The couple stayed in Wyoming for a couple of years before returning to Alcester. Mae worked for one year at the State Bank of Alcester. Mae was an active WELCA member of the Nathanael Lutheran Church and she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary for 56 years. In addition, she was a former member of the Alcester Senior Citizens. Her daily activities included her enjoyment in playing cards with the Canasta Club, working in her vegetable garden, playing bingo and attending Bible studies. Mae also volunteered at Morningside Care Center and provided daycare services for children in the Alcester area. Her parents, husband, two sisters, Opal and Vera, and one brother, Don preceded her in death. Among those who survive and gratefully shared her life are four sons, Donald and his wife Silvia of Cary, NC, Robert of Tyndall, Gordon of Lincoln, NE and Curt and his wife Diana of Alcester; one daughter, Cindy and her husband Lowell of Vermillion; six grandchildren, Jeff, Natalie and Matt of Cary, NC, Heather and Todd of Alcester and Shelli of Vermillion; one sister, Eileen Johnston of Dallas, TX; one brother, Glenn and his wife Carol Boerrigter of Freemont, NE; and two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Boerrigter of Rogers, AR and Betty and her husband Bob Anderberg of Hawarden, IA. Mae supported and loved her family and grandchildren. She will always be remembered by her humor, pleasant smile, and for ending all of her cards and letters with with all my love.
