Obituary

Lynn Edward Numsen of Alcester, age 63 years, died on 7 November, 2014 while working on a local farm. He is known to have had heart disease for the past 10 years. He was born at the hospital in Hawarden, Iowa on 2 October, 1951 to LeRoy and Eveline (nee Miller) Numsen the third child of his parents. His middle name, Edward, was in honor of Edward Eneboe, MD, the physician who helped him into the world, and Reverend Edward C. Beyer, his clergyman at Peace Lutheran Church. Eight years of elementary school were completed at Ludwig School, District 62, followed by high school graduation from Alcester High School in 1969. A Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture was awarded to Lynn at South Dakota State University in 1973. His working life consisted of crop farming supplemented by custom round hay baling and corn shelling and later by trucking. He survived a near fatal severe heart attack in 2009. Lynn was a kind and gentle soul who never married. He was a lifetime member of Peace Lutheran Church in Alcester. Lynn enjoyed farming, trucking, driving his 1975 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and his cats. Lynn is survived by three siblings, Gene (Gena) Numsen of Stevens Point, WI, Doreen (Rev. William) Stache of Columbus, IN and Sydelle Numsen of Euless, TX; five nieces and nephews and two cats. His parents preceded him in death. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or to Peace Lutheran Church. Memorial services will be 10:30AM Tuesday, 11 November, 2014 at Peace Lutheran Church in Alcester with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery in rural Alcester. The cemetery is part of the original homestead by Lynn's great-grandfather, Peter Numsen, and was donated to the church by Peter Numsen. Lynn, like his mother, was interested in family history.
