Lyle Stuart Norling was born February 24, 1965 in Hawarden, Iowa to Charles "Pete" and Lois (Zweifel) Norling. On June 13, Lyle passed after a very courageous battle with cancer at Sanford Hospice in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 58 years.

Lyle was raised on the family farm near Beresford with his three brothers and two sisters. After graduating Beresford High School, he attended Mitchell Area Tech for business agriculture. Lyle operated a mobile welding service, he then worked at Sioux Steam, Petersen Machine and for the last 18 years, the South Dakota Department of Transportation.

He married Anita Gannon on September 26, 1998 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. Together they raised their family that continued to grow to include seven grandchildren. Lyle loved spending time with his family and grandkids. He was an avid hunter and a great handyman, working on many projects around home and often for others.  Lyle was known for his sense of humor, caring heart and stellar work ethic.  He loved to make people laugh and that smile of his, just warmed your heart.  He was passionate about everything he did and everyone he loved; family, friends, heritage.  Upon travels near and far, there were very few times that he didn't run into someone that he knew and would always stop and take the time to visit.  He loved life and truly lived it to the fullest by making an imprint in so many people's hearts.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Anita Norling of Beresford; two sons, Todd (Jacqlyn) Gannon of Lennox, and Lathen Norling of Beresford; daughter, Brittny (Justin) Lykken of Beresford; his grandchildren, Tayson, Kyler, Brody, Easton, Josie, Lincoln and Beau. Also surviving are his parents, Pete and Lois Norling of Beresford; his mother and father in-law, Larry (Janet) Gannon of Dell Rapids; three brothers, Marlin (Vicki) Norling of Sheridan, WY, Tom (Carol) Norling of Columbia, MO and Jeff (Jane) Norling of Beresford; two sisters, Susie (Bill) Boden of Tabor, SD and Patty (Jim) Loucks of Sioux City, IA; and many cousins and friends.
