Luella Schuler was born January 8, 1927 in Hutchinson County, SD to parents Theodore and Pauline (Reiner) Schnabel. She died March 11, 2011 at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 4 days.
Luella attended rural school, graduated from Tripp High School, and attended Beauty School in Omaha, NE. She married Leonard Schuler on September 9, 1948 in Rapid City, SD. In 1952 the couple moved to Centerville where Luella operated a beauty shop for 50 years. After retiring she continued to reside in Centerville until November of 2007 when she moved to Prairie Crossings Assisted Living in Sioux Falls.
Luella was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was currently a member of First English Lutheran Church in Centerville. She was also a member of the Centerville American Legion Auxiliary. Luella enjoyed gardening, reading, cross-stitch, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Mary Lou, grandson Dennis and a brother Alvin in infancy.
Survivors include her son Larry Schuler and wife Joni of Crooks, SD; two grandchildren, Jared Schuler of Crooks and Jennifer Schuler and her fianc Aaron Norgaard of Sioux Falls; brother Maynard Schnabel of Gregory, SD; sister-in-law Shirley Tennyson of Brookings, SD; two brothers-in-law, Shorty Schuler of Wall, SD and Eugene Schuler and wife Arva of Leakesville, MS; special friends Stephanie and Tony O'Toole and Logan and Spencer of Centerville, SD; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 15 at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery, rural Centerville. Visitation will be Monday from 5PM to 8PM with family present from 6PM to 8PM and a prayer service beginning at 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville.
