Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2006 at the United Church of Christ in Beresford. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m.followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Lucille V. (Carlson) Wastell was born February 22, 1921 in rural Lincoln County, SD to parents John A. and Florence (Ende) Carlson. She died Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Bethesda of Beresford at the age of 85 years, six months and 29 days. Lucille was raised in the Beresford area and attended Pleasant Hill country school. Following her education she worked for family and local people in their homes. On April 21, 1938 Lucille married Wayne Wastell. They farmed northeast of Beresford for many years. Lucille worked at various businesses in Beresford; she owned and operated Marvs Drive-In and Caf until her retirement. Lucille took an active role in caring for her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and gardening, but her life was most complete when she had all of her family together. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Wayne; one son, Marvin (Corinne) Wastell of Omaha; one daughter, Wilma Johnson of Beresford; one daughter-in-law, Darlene Wastell of Beresford; nine grandchildren, Kevin Wastell, Todd Wastell, Terry (Stacy) Wastell, Craig (Kerri) Wastell, Andrea (Brad) Ackermann, Blaine (Ellen) Wastell, Chad Wastell, Steven Johnson and Sherry Johnson; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Merle (Ione) Carlson of Sioux Falls; and two sisters, Phyllis Drury and DeVona (Clayton) Fedderson all of Beresford. Preceding her in death were her parents, one son, Gerald, one sister, Velma and one son-in-law, Loren Johnson.
