A memorial service for Louis Wheatley will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2007 at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. Jay Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, rural Centerville, South Dakota. Louis E. Wheatley was born November 30, 1938 in Paducah, Kentucky to parents Denver and Helen (Gore) Wheatley. He died Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at the Centerville Good Samaritan Center at the age of 68 years, one month and nine days. Louis was raised in Paducah and spent several years in Chicago before moving to South Dakota. He married Diana DuBois on February 26, 1966 and remained in Centerville until his death. Louis was an over the road truck driver for more than 30 years. He retired in 2000 due to his health. His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Diana; one daughter, Darla (Rusty) Underwood; three stepsons, Michael, David and Pat Kieffer; one sister, Betty (Carmel) Vance; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two special nieces, Debbie (Kevin) Prostka and Darlene (Rick) Sienkowski.
