Funeral services for Lorraine Jensen will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at the Beresford United Church of Christ in Beresford, South Dakota. Burial will follow at Gothland Cemetery, rural Beresford, SD. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5th at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present form 6:00-7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be at 7:00 p.m. Lorraine Eleanor Hoard was born February 4, 1919 near Beresford, South Dakota to Jesse and Jessie (Cornish) Hoard. She died Friday, June 1, 2007 at Bethesda of Beresford at the age of 88 years, three months and 27 days. Lorraine was educated at Gothland rural school and graduated from Beresford High School in 1937. She attended the University of South Dakota and was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She married Leo Jensen on June 21, 1941. They lived for a short time in Chicago, Detroit and Sioux Falls when Leo was in the service prior to returning to the Beresford area. A dedicated wife, mother and homemaker, Lorraine was a lifelong member of the Beresford United Church of Christ. She was active in the Prairie Pals Extension Club and the VFW Auxiliary with volunteer work. Lorraine enjoyed many hobbies. Survivors include her son, Dennis Jensen and his wife, Julie of Alcester, SD; son-in-law, Randale Brannon of Arvada, CO; six grandchildren, Lori, Kellie, Jesse, Lindsey, Shelby and Leo; and seven great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband and one daughter, Denise preceded her in death. Lorraine's family requests memorials to the Beresford UCC Carpet Fund.
