Obituary

Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. We remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant, Lorraine.

Lorraine Esther Hamilton was given life by her creator and was born on May 17, 1931, the child of William and Anna (Hillrichs) Barinsky. On June 21, 1931 she received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God. On July 14, 1946 she publicly confessed her faith and was confirmed. Throughout her life she received the precious gift of the Lord's life-giving body and blood. On April 20, 1952 she received the gift of a beloved companion in her spouse, Wayne Eugene Hamilton. She was blessed with the gift of two children, Kevin and Sally.

God blessed Lorraine's life with many special people as she served God in her vocations at home, church, work, and in the community.

Following her graduation from Akron High School Lorraine worked as secretary at an insurance office in Akron. After marrying Wayne, she worked as a secretary at Jerry Wood Insurance in Hawarden and later in housekeeping at Morningside Manor in Alcester. She will be remembered as a great cook, love of flowers and always bringing laughter to those around her. Lorraine was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Alcester where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and Confirmation and served with the Ladies Aid and LWML.

Finally, on January 28, 2023 God blessed Lorraine with a holy death at the Alcester Care and Rehab Center and took her home to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead, having lived in this life 91 years, 8 months and 11 days.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Raymond Barinsky and Lowell Barinsky; two sisters, Gladys Eden and Eileen Onken.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 70 years, Wayne Hamilton; son, Kevin Hamilton; daughter, Sally (Cory) Fisher; grandson, Andrew (Michelle) Wickre; granddaughter, Selena Fisher, three great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Delbert Hamilton and Jack Hamilton; sister-in-law, Angeline (Phillip) Van Wyhe; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 10:30AM Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Peace Lutheran Church, 309 East 2 nd Street, Alcester, SD 57001. Lunch will follow the service with committal after lunch. Visitation will be 5-7PM Friday with a 7PM prayer service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Ladies Aid of the church.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our sister in Christ, Lorraine.
