Lorraine E. Carlson, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 7, 2019 at her home in Beresford, SD.  She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.  A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 13 at Dalesburg Baptist Church.  Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, July 12 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford, SD.

Lorraine Sward was born to Richard and Eva Sward in Minneapolis, MN where she was educated and employed. She met her future husband, Don Carlson, at a church rally. They were married August 23, 1947 and farmed near Beresford where they raised their family.

Lorraine's beautiful heart touched the lives of her family and friends. She blessed others through her generous hospitality and her ministry at Dalesburg Baptist Church. One of Lorraine's special joys was leading a Bible Study at Bethesda Nursing home for 30 years. She and Don were charter members of the Dalesburg Scandinavian Association, and it remained a very special part of her life.

Lorraine leaves a legacy of love. She is survived by her children, Linda (Dave) Munson, Sioux Falls, Dick (Nancy) Carlson, Beresford and Renee Salzbrenner, Hugo, MN; her grandchildren, Steve (Rhonda) Munson, Paul (Jolyn) Munson, John (Caroline) Munson, Rachel Carlson, Eric (Nikki) Carlson, Grant (Katie) Carlson, Beth (V. J.) Loredo, Stacey (Mike) Walsh and Heidi (Tony) Zerwas; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, sisters-in-law, Carol Carlson, Beresford and Karen Carlson, Kearney, NE; and nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Don; her parents; sister, Doris, son-in-law, Rich Salzbrenner; three sisters-in-law; and six brothers-in-law.

Lorraine's steadfast faith in God and love for her family was the focus of her life. The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to her Sanford Home Hospice caregivers.
