Lorraine Bjordal was born July 1, 1931 in rural Clay County, South Dakota near Wakonda, to parents Arthur and Iris (Sherman) Hall. She died April 20, 2009 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Viborg, SD at the age of 77 years.

Lorraine attended Colfax rural school, graduated from Wakonda High School in 1949, and attended Nettleton College of Business in Sioux Falls. She married Allan Bjordal on April 13, 1952. The couple lived in Yankton, Sioux Falls, Centerville and Viborg. Lorraine worked as a secretary for several area businesses and most recently worked at the University of South Dakota Biology Department, retiring in 1995. The couple moved to the Pioneer Villa apartments in Viborg in 2007.

Lorraine grew up in the United Methodist Church and later became a member of the United Church of Christ in Centerville. She was an avid bowler and also liked gardening, sewing, music and playing the piano. Her greatest love in life was her family as she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Chelsey Bryant and sister Reta Polley.

Her survivors include her husband Allan Bjordal of Viborg; son Gary Bjordal and wife Marilyn of Sioux Falls; daughter Linda Attebury and husband Lee of Centerville; 9 grandchildren: Nikolai Bjordal, Ilsa Bjordal, D.J. (April) Bryant, Derek (Gwen) Bryant, Darren Bryant, Kyle Bryant, Sarah Bryant, Samantha Bryant, and Lee Bryant; 4 great grandchildren: Demetri, Cadence, Olivia, and William Bryant; three sisters: Ardis Henderson, Yankton, Mary Lou Bucklin, Selby, SD and Leta Hansen, Vermillion; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, April 24 at the United Church of Christ in Centerville with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery, rural Centerville. Visitation with family present will be Thursday from 5PM to 8PM at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville.
