Loreen Andal was born November 28, 1933 to Maurice and Margaret (Lass) Harrington on a farm near Beresford, South Dakota. She died January 14, 2015 at her home in Centerville surrounded by family and friends at the age of 81 years. Loreen grew up near Beresford and graduated from Wakonda High School. She married VerDell "Pete" Andal in Beresford on September 23, 1957. She moved to his farm by Centerville where they made their home and raised their only child, Joni. Living on the farm was the light of her life including raising flowers and gardening. Loreen was the Centerville Township Clerk for 25 years; it was a job she loved to do. Family and friends were very important to Loreen. Sunday was a day for family to come to the farm. It was there where the famous Pitch games were played, the Harrington girls against the men and the score sheets were kept for years. Loreen was known for her delicious brownies and potato salad. She spent free time being with friends and bowling. She was active in the Altar Society at Good Shepherd Catholic Church and the church council. In 2010, Joni became primary caretaker for her parents. Following her father's death in 2012, Loreen moved into Centerville and Joni continued to care for her until her death. Loreen is survived by her daughter, Joni Andal of Centerville; and "second daughter" Cindy Orr and her children, Mike, Nikki, Abbie and Allie; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Nelson; brother-in-law, Lloyd Peterson and many other nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Pete, sisters, Marian Kiepke and Joyce Peterson and brother, Delmar Harrington. The family requests memorial to Holland Cemetery, 45857 SD Hwy 19a Centerville, SD 57014. Funeral services will be 1PM Monday, January 19, 2015 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Centerville. Visitation with the family present is 4-6PM Sunday at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville with a prayer service at 6PM.
