Lloyd Everett Lundberg, of Alcester, SD entered his heavenly home on May 3, 2022. Funeral services will be held at Big Springs Baptist Church on Saturday, May 7th at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be at Big Springs Baptist Church on Friday, May 6th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 pm.
Lloyd was born on April 30, 1944 to Ben and Alma (Gibson) Lundberg on the farm near Alcester where he lived most of his life. His early education was at Ring Country School, and he graduated from Alcester High School in 1962. While in high school, he was active in FFA and earned the State Farmer award his senior year. Lloyd married Connie Skoglund of Alexandria, Minnesota on September 19, 1964. During their early married years, Lloyd served in the Army National Guard.
Lloyd was a lifelong attender and became a member of Big Springs Baptist Church, where he came to know and love his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He served in many capacities within the church. After high school Lloyd became an usher and ushered every chance he could until his health caused him to give up the position. He was also a Trustee, Deacon, and Sunday School teacher during his years of serving at Big Springs. He took great joy in watching his former students grow in their faith in Christ. Lloyd also enjoyed serving on two short term mission trips, one to Ukraine and the other to Peru.
Lloyd's lifelong career was his farm and its activities. He ran a diversified operation as he raised crops, had a cow/calf operation, raised calves to market weight and ran a farrow to finish hog operation. Lloyd was a very good steward of the land which led him to putting terraces in his fields to help prevent erosion. Unfortunately, not everyone thought as highly of them as he did. Some who hauled corn and beans for him during harvest would get "lost" in the terraces, especially at night, as they had trouble finding their way out of the field. Lloyd's favorite parts of farming were watching the crops grow and change and finishing the calves to market weight.
Lloyd was a dedicated spectator at his children's and grandchildren's events, taking in many sporting events and concerts.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Connie; son Rick (Mary Beth); daughters, Jill (Jon) Frick of Canton, SD and Tricia (Paul) Lasley of Alexandria, SD; 6 grandchildren, Jessica (Brian) Van Houten, Derrick (Hunter) Lundberg, Kevin (Courtney) Frick, Brenna Frick, Tyler Frick, and Craig Lasley; two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Hudson Lundberg; and his siblings and their spouses.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Merle; sister-in-law, Linda; and brother-in-law, Roger.
