Lillian Boswell was born May 30, 1922 near Castlewood, SD to parents William and Ida Mae (Norris) Strait. She died September 10, 2008 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 86 years. Lillian grew up in the Castlewood area and graduated from Castlewood High School. She married Ralph Boswell in 1942 at Las Vegas, NV. The couple lived in California until 1944 when they returned to the Castlewood area. Lillian was first and foremost a homemaker. She devoted her life to taking care of her husband, children and home. When her girls were older she began working as a waitress. She later became a police officer in Brookings and worked in that capacity until retiring in 1983. Lillian and Ralph moved to Beresford, SD in 1990 and have resided here until the present time. Lillian enjoyed playing bingo and going on trips. Her greatest joy in life was being a homemaker. She kept an immaculate house and loved taking care of Ralph and her family. She is survived by her husband Ralph Boswell of Beresford, SD; two daughters: Judy Ann Boswell of Beresford, SD and Garry Boswell of Vermillion, SD; and two brothers: Richard (Ardell) Strait, Castlewood, SD and Robert (Pauline) Strait, Lake Poinsett, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters. A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, September 13, 2008 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
