Lila Marie Anderson Reinmuth, age 84, died March 29, 2010 in Alcester. Funeral services will be at 10:30AM on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8PM at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester with the family present from 5-7PM and a prayer service at 7PM.
Lila Marie Reinmuth was born Dec. 21, 1925 in Alcester, SD to Robert and Pearl (Johnson) Anderson. She spent her childhood in Alcester and graduated from Alcester High School in 1943. In September 1943 Lila Marie entered the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN in the US Nurse Cadet Corps Program. She graduated September 8, 1946.
On September 14, 1946 she married G. Wayne Reinmuth. They moved to Rapid City where Wayne finished his education at SD School of Mines. Lila worked as a RN in the obstetrical ward of Black Hills General Hospital. They lived in Parkston, SD, Clarkston, WA, Richland and Kennewick, WA before moving to Damascus, MD. Lila worked for 14 years in the Montgomery County School system as an instructional aide in reading.
In 1988, Wayne and Lila moved back to Alcester. Lila was active in church her entire life. At Nathanael, she was church librarian and participated in the Church Library Association. In the 1990s she was a synod delegate to the national ELCA Churchwide Assembly in Philadelphia, PA.
Lila loved music; she played clarinet in high school band, played the piano and sang in choirs all her life. She and Wayne sang in the Sioux Falls Festival Choir for several years and toured with them to Germany.
Lila is survived by three children, Bonnie (Tom) Clark of Colorado Springs, CO, Bruce (Aggie) Reinmuth of Alexandria, VA and Dale (Linda) Reinmuth of Mechanicsville, MD; three grandchildren, Jill Reinmuth of Alexandria, VA, Colleen (Ron) Hopwood of Castle Rock, CO and Rebecca (Robert) McBride of Colorado Springs, CO. Her parents, husband, Wayne, and an infant brother preceded her in death.
