Leslie E. Anderson was born on September 19, 1939 in Union County, South Dakota to parents Ellerd and Pearl (Fickbohm) Anderson. He entered into death at the Sanford Hospital in Vermillion on January 27, 2022, at the age of 82 years, 4 months, and 8 days. Les passed away peacefully with his family by his side. A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, February 1 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford, SD.

Les was baptized and confirmed at Brule Creek Lutheran Church. After graduating from Alcester High School, Les joined the Air Force. He was stationed in South Carolina where he fueled the air craft on the flight line. He was always proud of his military service and had great respect for all military. He then returned home to help his dad farm.

On August 26, 1973, he married Karen Buum. They continued to live and raise their two children, Tonya and Chris, on the farm where Les was born. While farming, he operated the motor grader for 30 years for Spink Township. Les was a member of the Alsen Legion, where he served as Post Commander and Adjunct, making lasting friendships.

Leslie was proceeded in death by his parents and his daughter, Tonya. He is survived by his wife, Karen; his son, Chris (Alison); his grandchildren, Wyatt and Elsie; two sisters, Karen (Mrs. David Gibson) and Cheryl (Mrs. Leroy Peterson); and one brother, Duane (Jerri).
