LeRoy H. "Ted" Thompson was born June 15, 1940 in rural Lincoln County, SD to parents Herman and Frances (Meyer) Thompson. He passed away June 24, 2013 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD at the age of 73 years and 9 days. Ted graduated from Beresford High School in 1958. He served in the United States Army from September of 1963 to September of 1965. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army he returned to his job at Beloit Manufacturing in Beloit, WI. He married Bette Page on November 20, 1971. She passed away on September 23, 1983. Ted adopted Bette's two sons, Robert and Randy. On January 25, 1985, he married Dixie Neuroth. Ted retired in 2003 and in 2005 moved with Dixie back to Beresford where he has resided until the present time. Ted was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was currently a member of Romsdal Lutheran Church. Ted loved farming and has helped many people over the years with their farm work. He never got paid for helping, but did it because he loved the land and enjoyed spending time on the farm. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bette, son Roger Neuroth, sister Marjorie Jensen, and two nephews. Survivors include his wife Dixie of Beresford; three sons, Robert Thompson, Monroe, WI, Randy (Debbie) Thompson, Juda, WI, and Lenny (Lila) Neuroth, Beresford, SD; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; 3 sibblings, Leon (Betty) Thompson, Larry (Phyllis) Thompson and Marion (Tony) Neuroth all of Beresford; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 27 at Romsdal Lutheran Church, rural Beresford, with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
