Leo Joseph Neuroth was born July 11, 1929 to William and Anna (Pohlen) Neuroth on the family farm south of Beresford. Leo was baptized and made his First Communion at Emmett Catholic Church. He attended Emmett Country School until the family moved into Beresford in 1937 where he graduated from High School in 1948.
Leo and Lorraine Hebert were married July 7, 1953 in Santa Ana, CA where Leo was stationed in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal.
He worked as a distribution clerk at the Beresford Post Office until November 1968 when he was appointed as a Rural Mail Carrier on Rt. 3 where he served until his retirement in July 1988. He was proud of the fact that many of his patrons said they could set their clocks by the time of his arrival. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
Leo and his family became greens keepers at the Beresford Golf Course when it changed from sand greens to grass greens and they continued that job for a number of years.
Leo and Lorraine were privileged to spend many winters at Silveridge Resort in Mesa, Az. One of Leo's special joys was helping to build and maintain a miniature golf course at the Resort. Golf continued to be an important part of his life as he shared the game with family and friends both in Beresford and in Arizona. Some of his golf buddies included Denny Turner, Milt Wass, Cole Conklin, Bob Landon, Don Hammit, Dale Ende, Mike Bovill, Axel Sorenson and many others. Leo and Lorraine also treasured a life-long friendship with Lloyd and Clara Fuerstenberg and their family.
One of Leo's favorite pastimes was watching Baseball. Most people have one favorite team but Leo couldn't pick a favorite and he cheered for the Twins, Cubs and the Dodgers. He also enjoyed arguing with his brothers during their many heated card games.
