Lee Wayne Thormodsgaard was the 1st born child to parents Oliver and Fern (Twedt) Thormodsgaard on December 21, 1947 in Hudson, SD. He died January 5, 2014 in rural Alcester, SD as the result of a car accident. Lee started driving a tractor by the time he was 7 years old. He attended Elmwood rural school, graduated from Alcester High School in 1966 and went on to earn a degree in Mechanized Agriculture from SDSU. Lee married Jacque Crissey in 1984 in the parlor of the Thormodsgaard Home, which dates back to 1881. Lee farmed his whole life. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served in many roles. He was on the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery board, was Norway Center Township treasurer, and was a member of the Alcester Fire Department. Lee served in the Army National Guard for 6 years and helped with cleanup efforts after the Rapid City flood in 1972. Lee was a humble, sweet, and gentle man who was dearly loved by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Lee is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jacque Thormodsgaard of Alcester; three sisters, Evelyn (Doug) Schneider, Jane (Richard) Baratta, and Ellen (Doug) Hebert, all of Sioux Falls; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 10 at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hudson, SD with burial at the church cemetery.
