Pioneer Grandson Lee Matthew Trigvy Kittelson was born on June 19, 1915 to parents Theodore and Lydia Kittelson and died September 20, 2011 at Bethesda nursing home in Beresford, South Dakota. He was 96 years old. Lee was baptized and confirmed in Romsdal Lutheran Church. He grew up on a farm and attended Plain View grade school. For high school he moved to live with relatives in Beresford. Lee was one of the first in his community to attend college, graduating from St. Olaf College in Northfield Minnesota, where he met his future wife, Berta Marie Moluf. After college, Lee took the train to Portland Oregon and arrived with only a few dollars left in his pocket. He borrowed money from a Romsdal confirmation classmate in Portland until he found a job. Once settled, Lee sent a room full of flowers to Berta, still at St. Olaf College, to signal his love for her and wave off other suitors for her hand. They were married on September 20, 1940 and rode the train back to Portland. He owned an accounting business, becoming a well known and successful downtown businessman. He had sons Jim and Peder and helped Berta's brother Edward Moluf's five children after their parents tragically died at an early age. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, wife Berta, and son Jim. Among those who survive and gratefully shared his life are his son R. Peder (Eleanor) Kittelson; grandchildren Beth (Steve) Van Voorhis, Amy (David) Kittelstrom, Kalle (Katie) Kittelson, Krister (Sarah) Kittelson, Karin Kittelson; great-grandchildren Katie Van Voorhis, Traeger Kittelstrom, Seelah Kittelstrom, Miles Kittelson and Max Kittelson; nephews Allan (Joann) Moluf, Peder (Arlena) Moluf, Larry (Barbara) Moluf, Bob (Lynn) Moluf and niece Linda (Jim) Wong. Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Saturday, October 1 at Romsdal Lutheran Church, rural Beresford with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4PM to 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford. Donations may be directed to the Children's Inn, 409 N. Western Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD 57104
