LaVona "Bonnie" Voog was born January 9, 1923 to Carl amd Mabel (Dubrois) Lunning. She died August 15, 2014 at Centerville Care Center at the age of 91 years, seven months and six days. She was raised in the Centerville area where she attended country schools and graduated from Centerville High School in 1941. LaVona was united in marriage to Martin Voog on June 17, 1944. They farmed for many years and she worked for the Good Samaritan Center. In 1972, they moved into Centerville and started working as custodians for the Centerville School District. They retired from there and in 1987 started working for Turner County as custodians and worked until 2002. LaVona was a member of Scandia Lutheran Church where she was Sunday School teacher for man years. She was a 4-H leader for 20 years. Her enjoyment was baking. She will be remembered for her raisin cream pies. At Christmas she would make 13 kinds of cookies and have them delivered to various places. She loved seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she would always make and decorate Angel food cakes for their birthdays. Among those who survive and gratefully shared her life are her son, LaValle (Kelli) Voog of Centerville; daughters, Carol McLendon of Sioux Falls, Mavis (Dean) Austin of Centerville and Melanie (Gerry) Kluch of Hildreth, NE; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and sister, Eloise Snoozy of South Shore, SD. Her parents, husband, Martin; daughter, Candice Alexander; son-in-law, Wayne McLendon; two sisters, Vivian Vasgaard and Marlys Peterson and one brother, Eldon Lunning preceded her in death. Funeral services will be 10AM Tuesday, Aug. 19th at Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville. Visitation will be Monday 2-8PM at the Scandia fellowship hall with the family present from 5-8PM and a prayer service at 7PM.
