Kevin Franker was born November 30, 1962. As an infant he was adopted by Robert and Iris (Wilken) Franker. He died February 20, 2017 at his home in Viborg, SD at the age of 54 years, 2 months and 20 days.

He graduated from Clay Central High School in Royal, IA and went to tech school in Sioux City, IA for drafting. On June 9, 1984 he married Michelle Kriens at St Louis Catholic Church in Royal, IA. They moved to Kansas City, MO and then to Kearney, MO where they lived for 15 years. Kevin worked as an estimator and project manager for commercial construction companies. In December 1997 they moved to Viborg, SD. His wife Michelle died in September 2016.

Kevin was very creative, full of ideas and always looking for the next entrepreneurial opportunity. Away from work he spent his time gardening, wood working, writing and reading. Kevin enjoyed spending time with his family while working together, building and remodeling on their acreage in Viborg.  His entrepreneurial spirit and "do it yourself" passion was passed on to his children.

He is survived by his two sons, Steven (Elizabeth) Franker of Bethel, MN and David of Rapid City; daughter, Maria (Landen) Geerdes of Watertown; one granddaughter, Hannah Michelle, born February 17, 2017 and named after her grandmother; his parents, Robert and Iris Franker of Spencer, IA; his in-laws, Merlyn and Norma Kriens of Royal, IA; sister, Lisa (Kevin) Baker and brother, Michael Franker all of Des Moines, IA. His wife, Michelle and an infant son, Jonathan David Franker preceded him in death.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00PM Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Centerville. Visitation will be 12-1PM Saturday at the church.
