Kelly Daryle McVay of Beresford passed away on January 4, 2022. He was born on March 7, 1956 to Daryle and Shirley McVay. Kelly also had four sisters. He spent his earliest years in Modesto, CA with his parents and older sister, Darla, where his dad was employed in corporate agriculture work. The family moved to Canton, SD in the early 1960's, where Kelly acquired three more sisters, Tami, Lori and Amy.

The McVays eventually moved to Beresford, SD where Kelly lived the majority of his life. He graduated from Beresford High in 1974. While attending Beresford schools, Kelly played football and was active in the FFA. He had a lifelong love of all things agriculture and animals and worked closely with his dad milking cows. Kelly was seldom seen without his buddy, Smoky the elk hound.

After the McVays retired from the farm in rural Beresford, Kelly spent time working on area farms and as a cowboy in Nebraska before moving back to Yankton, SD and working in facilities at Aviation Manufacturing Group and a local restaurant.

He returned to Beresford in 2010 and was an active member of Set Free Beresford Baptist Church and participated in several area Bible studies. He was an avid sports fan, and the Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Vikings had a special place in his heart. Kelly fiercely loved his sisters and family, his friends, his church family, and most of all- his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are so grateful to have shared in his life, and as Kelly would always say, "Adios" – we love you.

He is survived by three sisters, Darla (Dana) Wilson of Hudson, SD, Lori (Bob) Padmore of Sioux City, IA and Amy (Bryan) Kauchich of Boise, ID.  Kelly was preceded in death by his parents, Daryle and Shirley McVay, and his sister Tami (Joe) Zerr.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 28 at Set Free Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Set Free Baptist Church in Beresford, SD.  setfreeberesford.faithlifesites.com
