Obituary

Kay Salvis was born July 24, 1919 in Beresford, SD to parents Clarence and Edna (Erickson) Clark. She died Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Morningside Manor in Alcester, SD at the age of 86 years, eight months and 11 days. Kay was raised and educated in the Beresford area. She worked for Boeing Aircraft near Seattle for a few years prior to her marriage to True Salvis on April 25, 1942 in Washington. The couple returned to South Dakota where Kay worked at various jobs as True attended USD in Vermillion. They lived for many years in Rapid City and Kay worked as a bookkeeper for the Alex Johnson hotel. She spent her free time fishing, camping and hunting with True. Kay loved the Black Hills and enjoyed driving her family through them. Following Trues death in 1986, Kay continued to live in Rapid City until she moved to Alcester in 2000. Kay is survived by two sisters, June Simpson of Rogers, AR and Clarys (Robert) Peterson of St. Paul, MN; two brothers, Jay (Cleo) Clark of Alcester, SD and Gerald (Janet) Clark of St. Paul, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, three brothers, Leland, Curtis and Alvine Clark and one sister, Lois Wilbur. Funeral services for Kay Salvis will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the Morningside Manor Chapel in Alcester, SD. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Friday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester.
