Kathlyn Kaye Bergman was born August 25, 1922 in Okabena, MN to parents Charles and Gertrude (Anderson) Donaldson. She died August 28, 2007 at the Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD at the age of 85 years and 3 days. Kaye graduated as valedictorian from Lakefield High School in Lakefield, MN. She graduated with highest honors from the Northwestern Hospital Nurses School in Minneapolis and began working as an RN at Oakland Naval Hospital during World War II. She married John (Don) Bergman on October 24, 1946 in Beresford, SD. She worked as an RN for 32 years at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, retiring in 1992. Her husband died in 1995 and Kaye continued to reside in Beresford until her death. Kaye was an active and devoted member for 60 years at the Beresford Zion United Methodist Church where she taught sunday school and bible school for many years. She also belonged to bridge club, a bowling league, study club, womens society and was a Girl Scout leader. Kaye was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She cherished her friends and enjoyed doing for others. She was preceded in death by her husband John, brother Gale Donaldson and sister Cleo Parsley. Her survivors include her son John Bergman and wife Donna of Casa Grande, AZ; daughter Jan Lochridge-Long and husband Randy of Rapid City, SD; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sister Phyllis Lambert and Will Lake of St. Paul, MN; sister-in-law Corinne Donaldson of St. Paul, MN; brother-in-law Robert Parsley of Minneapolis, MN; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held 10:00AM, Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Beresford Zion United Methodist Church. Burial of cremated remains will take place at Union Cemetery in Flandreau, SD.
