Funeral services for Katharine Krause will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford, South Dakota. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with the family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Katharine A. Krause was born December 24, 1907 to Joe and Margaret (Voegeli) Zweifel at Oakes, North Dakota. Edward, her twin brother, died September 9, 1908. She died December 15, 2007 in Beresford, SD at the age of 99 years, 11 months and 21 days. Katharine moved to Beresford in 1908 with her parents and her two brothers, Albert and Jacob. She attended Silver Lake School and worked at home with her family. On February 8, 1939 she married Walter Krause and they moved to Hinton, Iowa. In 1941 they returned to Beresford. After losing their first child, Lawrence, at birth, Roger was born to them in 1942 to make their family. Walter died June 29, 1978. Katharine was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking bread and entertaining friends and family. She is survived by her son, Roger Krause of Beresford; brother, Clarence Zweifel of Beresford; sisters, Lorene (Freeman) Swanstrom of Beresford and Iona Carlson of Sioux Falls; two sisters-in-law, Esther Zweifel of Alcester and Laura Zweifel of Beresford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband, son and five brothers, Albert, Jacob, Edward, Walter and Emil preceded her in death.
