Obituary

Kathryn Rosalie was born March 9, 1920 in rural Stockholm, SD to parents Robert and Kathryn (Flynn) Young. She died March 25, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center in Centerville, SD at the age of Ninety-one years and sixteen days.

Rosalie was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. The family moved to the rural Wakonda area when Rosalie was one. She attended first and second grades in Wakonda. The family then moved to Centerville, where Rosalie graduated from high school. Rosalie then moved to Sioux Falls, attended the South Dakota School of Cosmetology, where she earned her degree, and then began work as a beautician in Redfield, SD.

Rosalie married Russell Waggener November 28, 1940 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Centerville. The couple made their home in Centerville, where Rosalie has resided until the present time. She opened the doors of Rosalies Beauty Shop and ran that business out of her home until her retirement at age seventy-eight.

During her years as a 4-H leader, Rosalie was a positive influence who brought many opportunities to the young girls she worked with. She was also an active member of Altar Society and The Royal Neighbors. Another of the true joys of Rosalies life was being a member of the Model Mrs. Extension Club, some very special ladies. Rosalie enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, cooking, and genealogy. She loved spending time with her family and was actively involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Russell in 1981, and her sister Alyce Bartlett in 2009. Among those who gratefully shared her life are her daughters Barbara Kleinsasser (Jerry), Cynthia Foreman (Donald), and Rochelle Jensen (Charles); grandchildren Kelsey Kleinsasser (Heather), Mitchell Kleinsasser (Theresa), Angela Foreman, Jeffrey Foreman (Sarah), Brooke Langdon (Jermiah), and Conor Jensen; great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Mass for Rosalie will be Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Centerville. Visitation will be Friday from 2-5PM at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville and 6-8PM at the church with a rosary and wake service at 7PM.
