Joyce Elaine McShane was born December 31, 1943 in Vermillion, SD to parents Lee and Agnes (Jacob) Paulson. She passed away March 31, 2017, in her daughter's home in LeMars, IA at the age of 73.

Joyce grew up in Union County, SD. She married Virgil McKee In 1961 and to this union was born her children Eddie and Diane.  She married Eugene Wahlstrom in1969 and to this union was born her daughter Tanya.  She married Randy Puttman in 1977 and then Donald McShane in 2000.

She worked for the Community Program in LeMars, Mid-Sioux Opportunities in Remsen, Woodbury County Community Action, owned and operated Daisy J's Janitorial in Phoenix, AZ, was a certified Nurse's Aide in Montana, Iowa and South Dakota and was a private Home Health Aide in Montana and South Dakota. Joyce retired at age 50 due to an injury she received while working.   Her hobbies and interests included cooking, remodeling, traveling, going to "goodie" stores, and being a member of the Isaac Walton League of America.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Stephanie in infancy, brothers and sisters-in-law Roger and Jan Paulson and Ronald and Donna Paulson, her husband Donald McShane in 2015 and her three former husbands.

Her survivors include her children, Eddie McKee, Hawarden, IA, Diane (Collin) Hoops, Ireton, IA and Tanya (Rick) Brian, LeMars, IA; grandchildren, Shelby Schmitt, Hawarden, IA, Breanne (Eric) Schmitt-Orr, Waldorf, Maryland, Darci Brian, Remsen, IA, Courtney Brian, LeMars, IA and Derrick Brian, Yankton, SD; great grandchildren, Quinten, Alayna, London, Bella, Daphne, Desirae and Tanner; a brother Russell (Clarice) Paulson, Alcester, SD; step children, Vickie (Bob) Hubbard, Harbor City, CA, Tammy McShane (Bert Colon), Omaha, NE, Cathy (Darren) Hamilton, Colorado, Springs, CO, Cindy Freeman, Seattle, WA and Michelle McShane (Jeff Harmon), Topeka, KS; 12 step grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren; and several "fur" grandchildren.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4PM to 6PM, Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester, SD.
