Joyce E. Lundquist, 96, of Beresford, SD, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Bethesda of Beresford. Joyce Elaine Carlson was born May 10, 1923 in Sioux Falls, SD to Eddie and Alma (Benson) Carlson. She was the youngest sibling (and sister) to 3 older brothers and always considered herself a real tomboy. She attended rural Newdale School and graduated from Vermillion High School in 1941.

After high school, she worked with a friend in Omaha, NE in an aircraft factory.  She was truly "Rosie the Riveter," helping with the war effort and waiting for the love of her life to return from the war. She was united in marriage to Alden Lundquist on October 7, 1948 at Dalesburg Baptist Church. They were blessed with their four children, James, Janet, Lois and Stephen.  Alden passed away on April 8, 2008.

Her whole life, Joyce attended Dalesburg Baptist Church and was a 70-plus year member. She was active in the church until her health made it difficult to attend.  Joyce loved her family was always concerned about their welfare. She will always be remembered for her laughter and sense of humor.

Joyce is survived by her four children, James (Alicia) Lundquist, Brentwood, TN, Janet (Art) Sieler, Huron, SD, Lois (Greg) Jones, Sarcoxie, MO and Stephen Lundquist, Boise, ID; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandsons and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alden; her grandson, Joshua Sieler; her parents; 3 brothers, Lester, Evan and Wesley; and 2 sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Dalesburg Baptist Church, rural Beresford, SD. Visitation with the family present will be held from 5-6:30PM on Friday, January 3rd at Wass Funeral Home, Beresford, SD.  Memorials may be given in memory of Joyce to Dalesburg Baptist Cemetery Fund, 30503 466th Avenue, Beresford, SD 57004.
