Jon Bjordal was born at Centerville, SD to parents Hans and Elvira (Bervin) Bjordal. He died March 15, 2015 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Viborg, SD, the age of 73. Jon was educated at Frog Creek Country School and graduated from Centerville High School in 1959. He worked for various neighboring farmers. On February 8, 1963 he married Diane Greer at Lennox, SD. Together they moved to a farm south of Centerville and raised four boys. Throughout his life he was active in many hobbies and interests, including shooting and hunting, woodworking, and bird watching. He was an active member of Komstad Covenant Church. His grandchildren were a great source of pride and interest as well and he enjoyed watching their football, baseball, volleyball and soccer games and their many music concerts. Grateful for having shared his life were his wife of 52 years, Diane, Centerville; four sons, Scott and his wife Donna, Sparks, GA, Tim and his wife Susan of Sioux Falls, Brian and his wife Dyane, Aberdeen, and Matt and his wife Karen, Centerville. Enriching his life were his grandchildren, Jamie Spires and his wife Desirae and their son James, and Seth, Morgan, Aubrey, Jared, Grace, and Braden Bjordal; three sisters, Dorrit (Warren) Reeves, Brookings, Helen (Vernon) Miller, Birmingham, AL, and Marjie (Leonard) Lindsey, Adel, GA; his brother Ben Bjordal, Centerville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Allan. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 19 at Komstad Covenant Church, rural Beresford, with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery, rural Centerville. Visitation will be Wednesday at the church from 6PM to 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM.
